FROM CHASING TRENDS TO EVERGREEN CONTENT

A reminder that it’s ok to ignore the pressure to chase trends. You are a business owner, not an influencer. Your people want to connect on a deeper level, feel that they trust you & resonate with your content (& hopping from one trend to the next can risk planting a seed of doubt in their minds).

Do you have an evergreen strategy for your image library?

'Trending content' might not be the right strategy for you

It might be the Gen Xer in me, but all the advice about chasing the constantly changing trends on social media makes me want to rebel and do the total opposite.

It started with pointing at things popping up on your screen and then everyone was dancing. One week you HAVE to share reels, the next it’s carousels, then something else entirely, one minute you’re supposed to be loud and fast-paced and bursting with energy, and the next you’re supposed to be sharing content that’s slow and calm and harmonious.

And if you don’t follow the ‘rules’ you’re basically risking burning your business to the ground.

The pressure to keep up can feel overwhelming – especially for small business owners. Instead of helping us show up consistently, it often leads to paralysis. We stop posting, or we doubt whether what we share even matters.

But here’s the truth: the impact you make doesn’t come from following trends.

It comes from showing up consistently, speaking directly with your people (and actually daring to repel the others), building trust, sharing content that resonates and shows that you care and that you know what you’re talking about.

What never goes out of style is you. Your message, your values, and the way you make your clients feel are timeless. And when you translate that into strong visuals, you create content that keeps working for you long after a trend disappears.

WHY EVERGREEN VISUAL CONTENT WINS

Trends might give you a temporary spike in reach, but evergreen visuals build long-term recognition and trust. Think of them as your brand’s signature—instantly recognisable as yours, no matter where they’re seen.

Evergreen visuals:

  • Save you time (no need to constantly brainstorm new gimmicks).
  • Build consistency (your audience recognises you at a glance).
  • Last longer (you can repurpose them across platforms, again and again).
  • Position you as a steady, trusted presence in a noisy online space.

WHAT THIS MIGHT LOOK LIKE

Evergreen Visual Content for Coaches & Service-Based Businesses

Here are some types of content that always convert for my clients (and that you can create for your own business):

1. Great quality portraits – Photos that show your personality and presence. Perfect for your website, email signature, and speaking opportunities.

2. Behind-the-scenes images – Share what it looks like to work with you, whether that’s coaching calls, creating content, in-person workshops or your daily routines.

3. Lifestyle photos – What habits and routines make you you? Visuals of you reading, journalling, walking in the forest, or enjoying a cup of tea. Whatever it is for you, these humanise your brand and make you relatable.

4. Tools of your trade – Photos of your notebook, laptop, sticky notes, books, or anything you actually use while working with clients.

5. Client transformations – Before/after style stories or testimonial graphics with your branding.

6. Seasonal refreshes – Not trends, but subtle seasonal touches (autumn cosiness, the freshness spring) to show you’re active and current.

7. Banner videos or short clips – A moving element on your website or social media that gives life to your brand without relying on trends.

HOW TO GET STARTED WITHOUT OVERWHELM

Pick 3 core themes (e.g., your work, your personality, your client’s transformation). Use these as your go-to pillars for content.

Create a bank of visuals that align with these themes—so you always have something to share without scrambling for ideas.

Repurpose, don’t reinvent. That portrait you love? Use it on your website, LinkedIn, your newsletter, and even in slides for your next talk. Using the same portrait on all platforms makes you more recognisable – which builds trust.

SUSTAINABLE CONTENT THAT CONVERTS

A PERSONALITY-DRIVEN BRAND THAT CONVERTS

Trends will come and go. But your personality-driven brand – and the way you show up for your clients – will always be relevant. The smartest move you can make is to invest in visuals that highlight you, so you can show up confidently without the pressure of chasing what’s popular this week.

If you often find yourself stuck without photos that match your tone of voice, that strengthen your message and actually feel like you, my yearly subscription might be the answer. I created this subscription because I saw that my clients kept booking multiple shoots because once they got their photos they could see how much easier it was to create content, build a website that genuinely matches their brand & energy and they were actively seeking out opportunities to get more visible – because they loved sharing their photos.
