ELEVATE YOUR VISUAL CONTENT

BRANDING FILMS

I know the power of photos to tell a story, connect and build trust, and films can help to take this to an even deeper level. The combination of photos and films can bring your brand to life and convey your personality so your ideal client can feel what it’s like to work with you. As the online space gets busier and more overwhelming, these films stand out, stop your audience scrolling and build curiosity so that they dive deeper into your content.

These short film clips feel like moving images. They work seamlessly with the photos that I take, making beautiful website banners and social media content.

LOCATION HIRE

FAQS

GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

It’s natural to have a lot of questions before booking a photo or film shoot and I want to make sure you get all the support you need. If you are still wondering how everything works or what the best option is for you, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

WHERE WILL THE FILM SHOOT BE?

To really capture your personality and brand essence, I work on-location (not in a studio). This makes your film clips unique for you and gives more depth and context.

For the Mini Brand Essence Film shoot (that includes 5 film clips) we will work in one location. For the Brand Essence Films (including 10 film clips) we will have time for 1-3 locations.

We will work closely together to choose locations that will suit you and your brand, indoors and/or outdoors. I will offer suggestions, but because I want the photos to be personal to you, you will play a role in finding locations that feel right for you.

We could be in your home, at the beach, in a forest, in an office environment, in the city, a cosy café, shopping at a local market – you get the point.

The possibilities are endless and will depend on your personality, your lifestyle, your brand, the season, and the feeling you want your images to have.

For indoor shoots, we will have the greatest freedom and flexibility in a private location, where we won’t have to worry about crowds. (It can also be easier to relax without an audience.) So my suggestion is to have your film shoot in your home, office or a space that we rent or borrow.

Many of my clients ask friends for location tips and even borrow spaces that they have access to. Photo studio spaces or conference venues are available for hire at a range of prices as well, and we can discuss this possibility if you would like.

DO WE HAVE TO HAVE THE SHOOT IN STOCKHOLM?

Not at all! Don’t let your location hold you back. Film and photo shoots are not only limited to Stockholm. My aim is to make this process as easy and efficient as possible, so if I can save you time by traveling to you, don’t hesitate to ask. Prices for travel available on request.

Shooting in locations that are personal to you and that contribute to your visual brand can make your films and photos much more impactful and unique. This isn’t about finding any pretty spot and dropping you there without any context.

International travel dates will be announced when available and travel to other cities and international destinations can be arranged.

Why not book in a session while you are abroad to capture a unique story or to illustrate your lifestyle as a digital nomad?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 'STORY'?

I approach these film shoots in the same way as I do my photo shoots, focusing on your ‘stories’. Rather than focusing on the number of ‘poses’, I plan my photo sessions around the stories we want to capture. You can see these as different situations in your professional life and that make up the person you are. We tend to look first at routines and habits and take it from there.

Some examples could be:

a creative process, like creating a moodboard, planning a project, working on a website, gathering inspiration from books or nature

behind the scenes of a typical day of work, like working on your laptop in a location that fits your personality and brand, curled up on the sofa with a cup of coffee recharging, writing in a planner, having an online coaching call, giving a presentation, recording a podcast episode

on the move in an urban location, like grabbing a takeaway coffee, walking in your favourite part of town – these photos are a great way to add movement and energy to your image library

your morning routine, like breakfast, yoga, a run, decked out on the couch trying to wake up, journalling, meditating

I love including moving portraits in these sessions. They are like the still portraits I take, but with even more personality and connection

What all the stories have in common is that they are authentic situations that are not formally styled, posed or studio-based. Despite the fact that we are creating the situations ourselves (rather than capturing organic moments throughout your day, paparazzi-style), I want to make them feel as genuine as possible. I work primarily with natural-light, with an emphasis on capturing moments as they naturally unfold (with just a bit of direction to make sure that we capture the best films possible for your brand).

Don’t be afraid to incorporate personal stories into your shoot. Your audience wants to see themselves in your story, to resonate and connect. By sharing what is important to you (to who you are as a person as well as in your work), it builds trust and helps potential clients to realise they you are the exact person they need.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT FILMS I NEED.

I’m here to help. We’ll start with a questionnaire and an online chat so I can get to know you and your business. We’ll dive deep into who your ideal clients are, your ‘why’ and the message you want to send with your content and this will help us to work out which films and stories we should plan for.

WILL I GET TO CHOOSE WHICH 5 OR 10 FILMS I GET?

Yes! I’ll record a number of films throughout the shoot, often capturing the same scene at different angles for more variety and to give us more to choose from later.

I’ll then pick out the best ones, do some slight edits and I’ll send you the link to a proof gallery where you will then get the chance to pick out your 5 or 10 favourites. (And of course, if you find more favourites, you are welcome to order more.)

WHERE SHOULD I USE THE FILMS?

In the pre-shoot consultation, we’ll talk about what your needs are and where you might want to share your films. They make great banners on websites and backgrounds for Instagram reels and Stories. You can turn your film clips into GIFS (I use Canva for this) and add them to your email marketing. The options are only limited by your imagination.

During your session, I will keep your needs in mind. For example, if you need a full-width banner for your website with space for text, I’ll film with this in mind. If you specifically need tall films for reels, I’ll plan for this.

Permission will be given to publish the films on social media and web for an unlimited length of time (all details will be outlined in the contract you will be sent on booking your session).

HOW DO I ADD FILMS TO MY WEBSITE?

It’s usually better to embed your film clips into your website by hosting them on a third-party website like YouTube or Vimeo. They will play on your website, which means your viewers won’t have to leave the page to view them.

Uploading films directly to your website can slow it down, so embedding videos creates a better user experience. It’s also great for SEO, since viewers stay longer on the page to watch them.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER'S BAD?

In the days leading up to the shoot, I’ll keep a close eye on the weather forecast.

It’s usually no problem to work around the weather. If we’re outdoors, we can either embrace rain, snow and wind and include it in your films for extra effect, or we can move to a protected area (I have a few favourites in Stockholm) or move to an indoor location. We’ll decide together the best way to deal with it – either reschedule the shoot, choose a different location or just embrace it..

I'M REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA

Don’t worry!

I am really uncomfortable in front of the camera too (or at least I used to be), which I think is why I work the way that I do and why I love storytelling photography. I’m really laid-back and my greatest aim is to help you relax and be yourself because this will result in great photos.

I will give you things to do, think about and talk about to elicit natural expressions, gestures and to take your focus off the camera. I will constantly be hunting for that twinkle in your eye and genuine reactions. Give yourself permission to just be you.

My aim is to capture your authentic personality and body language, not to create a fake persona or to force you to pose in a way that you never would in real life.

We’ll set up a scene and I’ll give you a chance to settle into the situation. You’ll hear me say quite often ‘How would you normally sit in a situation like this?’, ‘Imagine you were just standing here waiting for a friend, what would you normally do with your hands then?’, ‘Is it natural for you to put your hands in your pocket/tuck your hair behind your ear etc?’. Instead of forcing you into a pose, I’ll let your body language lead and I’ll then make adjustments and give suggestions so that it works for the camera.

I want you to keep in mind though, that even if I will do my best to help you to relax, I’m not a magician and my camera isn’t a magic wand. I’ll look for the best light and angles, I’ll do what I can to create the right atmosphere for the type of photo we’re taking, but I see this as a creative collaboration.

You need to give yourself permission to have fun and relax. The more relaxed you are, the more you trust me and my process and the more accepting you are of who you are and how you look, the better the results will be. If you spend the photo session wishing you weighed less, were 10 years younger, or were anything other than the perfect soul you are, this tension and doubt will show in the final films and photos.

I know it can be hard for some people, but let me help you. I see your strengths. Let me help you share that.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

There’s no one-size-fits-all list of rules for choosing outfits (at least not in my opinion). I’m happy to give you tips on what will work best for your films and photos and if you’re choosing between different outfits you are welcome to send me photos so I can help you to choose.

It can be good to have a few outfits for your shoot to add variety.

Aim to have a different outfit for each story we are capturing. You can even add variety to a story by adding and taking away accessories like jackets, jumpers, jewellery etc.

Some general thoughts:

  • choose colours that work with your skin & hair colour (you know, the colours that you instinctively know you look best in).
  • wearing black close to your face can make you appear tired and emphasise dark eyes and lines (while lighter colours tend to add a pop of light, fills in the shadows and gives the appearance of smoother skin and a sparkle in your eye).
  • I tend to suggest avoiding bold patterns because it can take the focus away from you and it also dates the photos faster (meaning that you’ll get sick of them sooner) – but if you’re a bold-pattern-lover, go for it.
  • wear sizes that fit well and that you feel great in.
  • if you’re going to worry about the fabric not sitting right or if it’s a fussy outfit that needs a lot of attention to get it looking right, avoid that outfit. I’ll pay attention to the details and adjust if needs be, but in the moment, I’ll choose expression over perfection every time.
  • keep your brand colours in mind when you choose your outfits. You don’t necessarily have to wear your brand colours, but what you wear should harmonise with them so that when you share the films and photos in your Instagram feed they won’t clash. (Having said that though, don’t be afraid of a pop of colour for contrast.).
CAN I HAVE MY HAIR & MAKEUP DONE?

Of course! I work with a wonderful team that does great work (and makes my clients feel amazing). Just let me know if you’re interested and we can book it in. I usually invoice this separately.

On the morning of your photo session, my wonderful hair and make-up artist will travel to your home or hotel to get you ready. (It’s such a great way to start the day!)

We’ll work together to get the timing just right, but you should allow about 1.5 hours for hair and make-up.

WHEN WILL I PAY FOR MY FILM SHOOT?

A deposit of 20% is invoiced on booking to confirm your shoot date and the remaining balance is due one week after the film shoot.

The shoot is officially booked when the deposit has been received.

I'VE DECIDED I WANT PHOTOS AND FILMS. HOW DOES THIS WORK?

This is such a great combination and a really powerful way to level up your website and social media presence.

My Yearly Brand Photo Subscription includes 3 Brand Boost photo shoots per year and it includes 3 brand essence film clips per shoot (meaning 9 per year). Of course if you book the subscription and want to add more films to your sessions, you are welcome to do this.

If a half-day Brand Boost photo shoot is right for you, film clips can be added on. Click here for more information.
